Icefalls/Avalanches

At Paradise today, we observed two large, dry-flowing avalanches much higher on the mountain. Maybe 11,000 feet. Likely triggered by falling ice. You can see the avalanche path in this photo although poor quality. Second avalanche was a bit larger. Obviously, this doesn't look like a popular climbing spot. Large powder cloud, lots of debris. Nice to watch from a safe distance.

Is that the Kautz ice fall, next to the thumb?

It is.

We saw that happen yesterday too.

It was pretty cool.
