What time is snow softening up? was created by haggis
What time is the snow getting carveable during this inversion assuming its sunny again tomorrow?

For say Granite Mtn I90 side?

Is it warmer this side of the pass?

Thanks

Corn time really depends on a variety of factors. Depends on aspect, size of slope, and pre-existing surface conditions. Some slopes might be ready at 9am, some at 10am, some at 11am, some at 12pm, some at 1pm, some at 2pm. You get the idea.

I have to work tomorrow so much as I'd just like to hang around until whenever for the corn to ripen, I've got a playdate with the man at some point from 10:30 onwards!

Just trying to find a suitable early morning slope for some attitude reallignment.

Of course I would just paraglide off in these conditions, except for the 40mph katabatic valley winds!

from a few recent experiences up the 90 corridor I'd say Granite Mountain might be a little fast in the morning before 10:30. I suspect you'd slide just about as fast sideways as pointing 'em straight down the hill, at least on the bottom 2/3's.

It is sunny but it is January; the sun is "slow n low" to borrow from the Beastie Boys.

Hi Haggis,
We were up in the West Granite area, and full sun slopes were soft by noon. More correctly, that's when we got out of the trees into the full sun, and found nicely softened slopes. There were quite a few people skiing Granite today, so I suspect there might be a report or two coming.
Good luck!
