Me too! I use both and enjoy both and admit to limitations and advantages in them both.
Each will have his or her personal experience and preference of both. There is no right or wrong!
I wish I felt as confident in them as Yurtman and Russ but alas I just don't as my personal experience with them has led me to worry about them in very specific conditions, ie. Very steep, hard snow where the lateral force on the toe has caused release for me.
I would never recommend locking the toe in soft snow or powder!
I also wonder why this one binding has created such fanatical supporters? You should see some of the threads on some other ski web-sites discussing dynafits. The dynadevouties defend this product with an almost religious fervor even to the point in my opinion of ignoring some of the bindings obvious faults. When support becomes akin to religious dogma, intolerance for others with different views quickly follows!

Just wanted to mention that I've also had them release horizontally a couple of times on steep icy slopes. I wonder if this is a classic mode of failure? Locking the toe down seems like a relatively good solution (telemarkers ski non-releasable bindings all the time!). I cranked the lateral din up a bit last week and didn't fall out last weekend...

Just learned a new word! I'm a dynadevotee. Over 400 days on my comforts (mostly on lifts) and the only time I ever had problems was when my DIN was set incorectly. Once that was fixed things have been fine.
I think if there were a need I would stand on the corner with a sandwich board urging the heathens to repent and covert. As you mention Scotsman it seems like some other dudes pretty much already have that covered.
"Thank God for dynafits" - pretty crazy story!
I may actually someday get a pair of fatties with Dukes but that would be more to have a ski I could use alpine boots in or to have a ski I could more easily share with friends. I trust the Dynafits.

Thanks Silas you are a true humanitarian ! I have decided to follow your example so........
If anybody has any nasty, heavy Fritschi's or Dukes , I'll find a home for them.

Hey, if you get a busy signal with Silas, try me next...
I've only been on them a few seasons (prior to that I was on telemark gear, so some might question my baseline for comparison
), and have have not pre-released even once, but have had the almost imperceptable (until I noticed the ski was off my boot!) release when catching a tip on a tree as noted in another post above, and was most thankful for it. I ski them on the lifts too, and have done some icy steeps there. I don't jump-turn much any more though. I like the bindings because they're light, and am willing to deal with the finickiness which hasn't been much of a hassle in my case. I trust them based mostly on my own experience. You guys now have me pondering whether I should consider locking the toe in the future on hard and exposed steeps in the BC. Damn you!
