I've got a westcomb shell, but the E-vent rules. Couldn't find any Rab at retail when I was shopping.

Rab Gear was founded by a Scottish Climber so you know it must be good.

I bought a Rab Vapour Rise soft shell last fall at the now defunct MtnAir in Wenatchee. I have nothing but good things to say about this jacket. First it is very soft compared to most "soft shells", it is constructed of Pertex on the outside with a hanging, velour micro fleece lining. The jacket is much warmer than other soft shells I have used and is fine in everything but pouring rain. The combo of micro fleece and Pertex wicks and breathes extremely well. Working hard outside in cold temps the jacket will develop a dewy surface on the outside much like wool. I was a little concern about the softness of the Pertex, but skiing through trees at Mission and snagging it on dry limb did nothing to it. I love the way this jacket drapes on your body it is very cozy. Very minimal in features, two hand warmer pockets and one chest pocket. I like the moldable visor, a feature of all hooded Rab gear. The only odd thing is getting used to the "backward" zipper, it's like a women's and took a few days for use to become natural.
I have no affiliation with Rab.
