Nothing beat repetition. It is tough matching the amount of repetition that lifts can give you. Instruction can be good but I think many instructors talk too much.
In my option the best way too improve is to follow behind someone better than yourself and pay special attention to what they are doing from the hips down.

If I was a journalist and edited your post as above it could taken out of context as referring to something else.

That's good advice. I don't know how far BHB wants to go, but if you really want to improve, moguls seem like one of the best tools available. You can make lazy turns skiing powder, even in a ski area. But you can't be lazy skiing moguls.

Ski moguls, in my opinion. Moguls now aren't the same or as prolific as I remember them in the early 90s, but they'll teach you how to have quick feet, keep your balance, and adjust to varying terrain.

Using new technology is "cheating"? Sleeping bag is cheating, wool blanket is not? Front point crampons instead of chopping steps is cheating? Computer is cheating, abacus is not? Lifts instead of skinning is cheating? ???Oh yea, Lowell's right, cheat and get fat skis!

I'm in the same position you are, and found that the Mountaineers' Mt Baker tele/ski camp last year really helped me unlearn bad and learn new techniques with great instructors and lots of lift assisted runs over a weekend. And, as Lowell and Scotsman mentioned, going out with better skiers and following them, observing and trying to do what they do.
