Whistler-Blackcomb Avalanche Fatalities was created by spltbrdr
Single skier and single boarder in separate incidents riding in "closed" areas that are typically open but closed due to high avalanche conditions. Tragic but a good reminder that the ski patrols are trying to protect us and not to deprive us. It also makes me think it is a good idea to bring a beacon/shovel/probe in sketchy conditions/terrain inbounds...and ride with partners.

Especially with tree wells being a consistent concern as well. Condolences to friends and family.

Agreed on the tree wells - was up at Willamette Pass on Tuesday and ski patrol pulled a snowboarder from a tree well who was unconsious and near death. It was a miracle he lived, considering he was there for over 30 minutes from what I hear........
