How to Interpret NWAC Telemetry? was created by JibberD
Just checked the "NOW" NWAC telemetry page for Paradise and have a question.
Looking at 12/21, 24 Hr Snow at 8am, the reading is 88" yet the next column to the right Total Snow reads 59" Why the disparity?
I assume the 59" is correct and that the 88" is inflated for some reason. But in the fashion of a non-scientist, I have no basis for this assumption other than to take the worst case scenario, an assumption based completely on my personal value that more snow is better. And this is, of course, correct.
Can anyone explain the 59-88 quirk? Did it pile up then blow away to greener pastures? Are there other telemetry quirks that can be clarified?

Note at the top says 24-hr sensor being repaired. See also Amar's comment on a previous thread:

Speaking of Paradise telemetry, remember the weather station is in a relatively sheltered spot which usually overestimates the general conditions for new & cumulative snow by 10-20%. The wind strength readings are more deceptive. It's not at all uncommon for winds at Pan Pt to be two or three times stronger.
Hope this helps; got to get back to shoveling...

"24 hr snowdepth out for repair 12-16-08"
Ahhh, well that a plausible answer. I wish all the mysteries of life were so clear. I was actually hoping someone would report that Paradise did indeed receive 88" and that you need to add that to the 59" to get the REAL total.
Thanks vogtski and shovel on!

I recomend at least 2 microbrews prior to checking telemetry. It smooths out the anomalies, and makes much more sense.
