Has anyone tried to ski the trees yet this year? I'm wondering if they have filled in enough to be pleasant skiing.
thanks,
Orion

Yodelin as far as I could tell from trying the other day is unapproachable. The track up is not covered in well enough to make passage through the sitka alder (Alnus sithchensis in layman latinese). Anyone else know a way up?

Need a bit more to get through the alder, no matter how you go in, I think. I've never been there before mid-January, and that was in an earlier year than this one...

Dunno for sure about Yodelin, but at Snoqualmie Pass and thereabouts, you tend to need at least 50" on the telemetry to make it worth skiing in the trees, and even then you can get some contact with logs and such, depending on the nature of the snowpack (e.g. a few rain events mixed in there on the way to 50" or a few big dumps in quick succession with no warmup to harden any of the snow). I'd be betting that's a half-decent rule for Yodelin too...
