Leavenworth Quickies? was created by lordhedgie
My mother is flying in Monday, and (gasp) I have to take off work without being able to spend my days skiing. While I am forcing her to go skiing with me once, it will be a resort and her first time. Wednesday I'm taking her on an overnight trip to Leavenworth, and I was wondering...
Looking at the forecast, it looks like there will be considerable snow sitting around Leavenworth by Thursday. I've never been there in winter, but it sure looks like I could suit up and hit one of those small ridges in the area, and be back by noon or so. Anyone know if that's feasible? I don't have time for Stuart or anything like that, as Mom won't like being "dumped" for a day...

That area is well-known for cross-country skiing as well (i.e. Icicle Valley ). Maybe you could look the guidebook 100 Cross-Country Ski Tours and pick something advanced, which might have something a bit steeper that wouldn't take an entire day. I actually snatched that book from my mother ( I did return it! ) and used some of the trips for cardio. Just a thought.
