The proposed changes for Hyak are just silly, aside from the chair to Hidden Valley. A mtntop restaurant? Night skiing? I suspect most of that sounded like a great idea 10 years ago when it was first submitted, but is pretty unlikely to happen now. (I hope).

What is wrong with night skiing at Hyak? They had night skiing from 1959-1998 before Booth clear-cut the area of its lights to re-use them at Alpental. I also heard instead of a new fixed quad on Rampart and the triple on the backside they may use the triple on Rampart and re-use the Keechelus double on the backside.... Seems to me that is the way I'd go, but guess it all depends on crowds this next season.
A mtn top resturant would be very cool up there with nice views of the lake, Catherine, and so forth. I'm sure the resturant would be the last thing to be added if it happens.

For me, Hyak has always been that ski area trapped in time. You could always go there to escape the glitz and glamour of the new school ski resorts. There's not alot of places you can go and see nearly every form of snow travelling device used in one spot. You could stand in front of the lodge and see alpine skiers, nordic skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, telemarkers, randonee skiers, and on and on. Maybe it'll stay that way with new lifts and night skiing, but I doubt it. I think the more populated the hill gets, the more the diversity will fade away. It's hard to picture Hyak with a fake fire pit and music on the loudspeakers. I'd just like to see it left alone.
