Frustration Road Trip Time??? was created by Scotsman
I've had enough of this weather and lack of skiing and I don't want to walk up to Pebble Creek again until next spring, so I'm thinking of desperate measures namely a road trip to seek tourable snow. Leave Friday, drive all day, ski Sat, Sun and drive back Monday.

But where??

Possible destinations within 12 hrs driving?
Teton Pass??( Web Cam looks Snowy)
  www.wyoroad.info/highway/webcameras/WYO2.../WYO22TetonPass.html

Wastach range??    www.altacam.com/mountaincams/
Montana??? www.bigskyresort.com/activities/winter/conditions.asp
Rogers' Pass??
Mt Shasta looks snowy on the web cams.??

We gotta think out of the box people!
Anybody got any beta or thoughts on the above???????
I've waxed all my quiver at least twice, beacon practise is good but it ain't skiing, and I'm not going mountain biking with Snow Bell as he will hurt me and I haven't the maturity to be patient.

Matier Glacier??? Perhaps, don't know with all this rain and have only been there once. It was a nice day trip with a easy approach, at least by cascade standards. I think it was an hour to snow in summer, but who knows, I saw some nice photos from other places?

I think you want to avoid heavily crevassed glaciers this time of year. Roger's Pass has enough snow for skiing, and is getting more.

Tim, do you have any better info on Roger's Pass then the most recent avi bulletin? It doesn't sound good up there:

"Synopsis: After 2 weeks of shrinking and receding, our meager snowpack thankfully received some new snow; however not enough to really make any tangible improvement to travel conditions. And although white to valley bottom, insufficient snow exists below treeline to support reasonable travel below approximately 1900m. Long and arduous hikes would be required both to and from the isolated areas of marginally skiable snow above 2000m, due to the many thinly disguised hazards, such as rocks, shrubs and small trees. Generally not worth the effort."

Alta will be turning the lifts, and they are doing something REALLY goodhearted:

"On November 15th and 16th, we are working with the newly formed Westminster Ski Team, Catholic Community Services and our skiers, to collect 500 warm, clean coats for struggling and homeless folks in Salt Lake City. We will give our skiers a day of skiing for a warm clean coat."

See www.alta.com/

Not to say you should be skiing lifts but anywheres that they are willing to have lifts turn should have enough snow in the surrounding Wasatch (Alta in particular does not cheat it much w snowmaking and current cams confirm).
