Thanks for the heads up Zap. After going to every Warren Miller for the last 4-5 years, I am most likely letting this one go. The last 2 years, we have just picked up the coupons and then left before wasting the evening on the endless footage of "extremeness"...Y-A-W-N.........
Seems like the coupons are worse than in years past. I am a bit baffled that there is less enticements from the ski areas, with the economy as it is, I am increasingly less inclined to spend even more money than in years past. Skin track looks more and more appealing.
In addition, I am bothered by the death of Billy Poole , who died in the filming of this year's movie. On one hand, without Warren Miller young skiers trying to get by on skiing as a sole means of income couldn't propel the sport forward. On the other hand Kodiak Courage can kill and now has. I know some pro-skiers who have objected to the conditions on a shoot day and have been told "ski it, or we find someone else who will". They then ruined their knees on the day in question. I have heard variations of this story more than once.
If the story were repeated in another industry, say in auto making, there would be political outcry, unions would picket, murder charges would happen, etc.....

I'm not aware of the details regarding the conditions on the day of the shoot when Billy Poole died so I'm not going to assume anything until I know the facts. Jeremy Noblis was skiing with him that day and paints a completely different scenario from the events you depict from a first person article I read.
See this link. www.deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695246642,00.html?pg=1
What I do know is that Billy Poole was an extemely aggressive skier even compared to the rest of his peers in the sponsored extreme skier group that he was part of. The articles and videos I saw of him skiing prior to his untimely and tragic death suggested , at least to me, that he would be a meteorite and burn brightly but not last long.
Race car drivers die, footballers get paralysed etc. I don't see why this was any different.

That whistler offering is a JOKE!
I assume the Shell Petrol "2 fer" coupons may have a similar fate, if they are available at all...?
Time to travel inland for reasonable British Columbia ski ventures....
