Methow Valley in March was created by janiesue
Looking ahead for spring break(3/22/09). Planning a trip with some Nordic skiers but I was hoping to get a day of turns in somewhere in the Methow Valley. Any recommendations for day trip routes and any input re: the likelihood of snow in late March.

Late March is late in the game for the groomed tracks in the Methow -- last season the last report was made on 3/30 and not much was still open (and last spring had unusually good late conditions)

the Loup Loup lift ski area's last report was on 3/16

But it might be a pretty good time to approach Silver Star -- earlier than usual -- so you'd have to ski HWY-20 several miles from the Early Winters sno-park to get to the base.

End of March might well have considerable track skiing left in the Valley, especially in the Rendezvous. Above it, there is:
Sandy Butte (always accessible)
Driveway Butte (accessible from up the road, or from the North, across the Methow past
Lost River
Last Chance Butte (if the Harts Pass Road is open a little ways)
Silver Star (if the highway is plowed to Silver Star Creek)
McLeod Pk (if Goat Creek road is melting out)
Fawn Peak
Delancy Ridge (south facing across the road from Silver Star
Reynolds Pk (a superior mountain ski from upper Twisp River)
