Hiker falls to his death at Guye Peak was created by hyak.net
SNOQUALMIE PASS, Wash. -- A man hiking by himself fell to his death while hiking on Guye Peak near Snoqualmie Pass, said the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The wife of the 47-year-old Sammamish man called police Monday when he did not check in after his hike as he normally does, she said.

She told police that he was an experienced hiker who was well-equipped for the outdoors and was carrying a cell phone.

Search and rescue crews located the man’s car in the parking lot at Alpental. The Guardian One police helicopter located his body a short time later and crews recovered him.

Found a report that he fell into a gully on the east side. It is the standard route from getting from the true summit on the south to the north summit. From there it is and easy hike out. It is not that bad in the winter and has been skied many times but in the summer it is not a fun place to be. I have nocked my knees there a few times after a long hard climb.

My best wishes to the family and friends.

That is sad to hear, condolences, and best to his loved ones.
It is a bit of a leap of faith crossing the top of that gully, if this accident occurred where I'm assuming.  On different occasions, I've both been willing to walk across it, and have also decided it wasn't worth it.  Maybe there's some way for parties to rig a simple hand line there, it would be a shame to see another accident in this spot.

Not good. Condolences to family. There was recent blog by Andrew Mclean on his blog Straight
Chuter.com about a friend that fell to his death on a hike/scramble on a peak in Little Cottonwood Canyon. They had hiked it many times together and it was easy but exposed and it only took a second and the friend fell for what reason Andrew did not know.

See link www.straightchuter.com/2008/08/the-theory-of-relativity-safety/

Easy, exposed terrain can be a real death trap!
