What constitutes a ski day to continue a TAY streak?

What are the criteria for a ski day that continues a TAY monthly steak? I have seen TR on other sites where people are calling 2 or 3 turns or a sideways traverse on tiny snowpatches enough to call it a legitimate streak.

I suppose ultimately it is a subjective call based on your own criteria, but were someone to post such a marginal TR here on TAY at what point would they be scorned?

In my book you'd actually have to link together enough turns to really call it a good run in order to call it a ski day - I'd say at least 20 consecutive turns.

Good question" Everybody has their own I guess. Mine is 1000 VF skied even if that means 4 times x 300 ft run .

Not only is the criteria subjective, but it also has to be taken in context with what is available. 2005 was a difficult snow year in the PNW, so when I hiked 5 miles to find the tiny patch of "snow" shown below, I was satisfied after I had skied it three or four times. I felt that I had earned my turns. I wouldn't have counted the same snowfield if somehow I could have driven to it.

I'll bite. I used to agree with Scotsman's veiw of 1000'vert. Also i'd agree with anyone who said they skied in any difficult month no matter how much or little they hike and or skied. Mainly in the name of brotherhood /sisterhood, Damn at least they are trying ! 10 consecutive turns ? Mind you some are quicker turners than others .More power to those that can get in 1000' vert in sept and oct. More powder to ya

I'm with Telemon. It's not the number of vertical feet, it's the fact that you did it. When you finished, did you go to the bar full of pride and brag to incredulous muggles that you skied, or did you feel a little guilty inside?

I think the definition is pretty personal and flexible -- after all a good number of people have kept their streak alive through Sept/Oct with "Sand dune" skiing in the Bruneau  Dunes




But I suspect that many TAY folks that would give sand dune skiing a favorable nod -- would reject Rollerskiing as a way of keeping a streak alive -- mainly that would make it too easy to keep a streak going and because it involves wheels/rolling instead of sliding.
