Crystal Clean-up Day

Complimentary BBQ given by Crystal Mountain will start at 3 pm at the base lodge for those who participate.

My initial response is.... what the?   It's not like cleaning up after the hydro races.... Crystal is pretty clean.  There is a smattering of artifacts; lift tickets, cigarette lighters, ski pole baskets, etc.   Once I found a kids ski with a boot in the binding... hmmmm.   And keys, a nice pair of girls sunglasses.

So, I don't see what the big deal is that would inspire an organized cleanup.

However, this sounds great!   A free ride up the hill!  ... and treasure hunting on the way down!

Here are some vid clips from the our June treasure hunt at Crystal... I found a big shovel on the burn... stuck it upright in the snow so someone would see it....   The drivers license we found belonged to a ski patroller who lived near my buddy (who found it), in Tacoma.

Speaking as someone that worked as a liftie at Jackson, these clean-up days may sound like a bit of a drag, but they can be VERY REWARDING. Think about it.....what kind of things do folks tend to drop when they are fumbling around on the lift? I'd go, but duty calls......

Clean up under a long lift that is somewhat wind-sheltered and reap the rewards......

Best of luck,
Ian
