Victory Laps? was created by lordhedgie
As most of you probably know, I'm recovering from my pacemaker implantation two weeks ago. I'm coming along nicely, and I should be able to do some "easy" skiing by next weekend (2-3 Aug). I haven't seen the snow up close and personal for two weeks, so I'm not sure what it looks like. Given the restrictions on my shoulder right now, here's what I'm thinking:
(1) No harness/ropes/ice axe,
(2) No overnights,
(3) Nothing involving a lot of arm use (climbing)
(4) Preferably a shorter trip rather than an all day trip.
I'd rather do Baker than Rainier just because it's so close, but if there's no good snow at Baker except on the glaciers, I could be convinced to make the long haul south. The real question then is what easy snow is left? I hit Heliotrope twice the weekend before surgery; is the snow there still any good? Any other ideas?
The less gear I carry, the longer I can be out. Good friends that carry lunch for me could extend my trip considerably....

I wish I could help you out... I am out for the next three weekends. End of Aug I will be jonesin' for something and would be willing to carry your lunch for you if you still need me to- just show me the goods!

Hopefully you're better off than me...
I'm not totally back yet. I tried the backpack on today (half loaded, no skis), and it was uncomfortable but not painful. I'm breaking out the sewing kit and (gasp) going to a craft store tomorrow, and I'll see if I can't improve it. The doc said three weeks before lifting heavy loads, so I'm hoping to be okay by this weekend. Maybe I'll catch you in another month, tho.

Just sailing, drinking beer, etc. No injuries, thankfully. Hit me up in a few weeks.

Does that mean the beer steins have to be only half full for a while?
As of right now I'm not available for this weekend, but maybe next weekend could work.
