For the really lazy, like me, try driving up Mt. Walker. Turn E up a gravel road at the 101 summit a few miles S of Quilcene. On a clear night, one can see the fireworks from Bellingham to Olympia.

Ptarmigan Ridge was pretty awesome. Check out my
TR from July 2005
. Anyone know about current road access/conditions to Mowich Lake (i.e. how much of a hike? would it be bikeable)?

Gauthier suggests
Liberty Cap

Keep an eye on the details of the forecast - you might have to go low (ish) to get under a stratus layer. We're not getting the bomber high pressure we had on the 4th last year.

I was all set to head up to Goat Flats on Three Fingers but the snowpack hasn't released its hold on the road to the trailhead. According to the FS, the road is open until MP 4.5 which still leaves another 12 miles to the trailhead.
A bummer because you do get a great view of many shows down in the lowlands.
