NWAC Survey What is Important to you? was created by Joedabaker
I am filtering through survey that NWAC has online. Found Here
It is a pretty extensive list of ideas, opportunities and changes.
Since the report is not compiled in real time, I am curious of what changes you would like to see and create some banter on the subject.
Discussion may bring better ideas for the comment areas.

I for one am not opposed to a membership program that will get more info for $. The fund raisers are great and builds community spirit, suplementing membership enrollment may bring in more money. Extensive websites cost a lot of money to build and maintain, and unless they are automated take manpower to manage.
On the other hand this information should not be held to only paying members, because it may save lives.
Just curious?
I hope the discussion is not held to memberships, but the vast opportunities NWAC are suggesting.
This is a very exciting opportunity and NWAC is moving in the right direction!

Edit: I think the NWAC website address should be on every piece of backcountry clothing or equipment sold in this state.

I don't mind a few extra features for money, like daily e-mails or SMS alerts. On the other hand, withholding anything that could save a life, like snowpack analysis, is just a bad idea. In short, the only stuff that should cost money is the convenience stuff, not the actual information.

I also stressed in my survey that Flash-free, Java-free, simple HTML and text is a good thing. Accessing the NWAC via computer, cellphone, or whatever you've got handy is a good thing -- short and simple beat out fancy graphics every time.

I said similar things -- I'd pay a fee for some convenience (email, txt, whatever) notifications, but all of that info should be available for free.

One of the ideas I particularly liked was the graphical representation of the forecasts, perhaps overlaid over a map. I also liked the grouping of forecast areas to include all pertinent info in one spot. It was hard to choose the options, given that I access most of that info via TAY now, but if that kind of thing was done well it could be really useful, especially for folks who aren't used to interpreting lines of telemetry data.

I think this a great idea. Last year after all the deaths in December I checked at my local REI where my wife works and in the snowsport section they did have a wall mounted sleeve containing the most recent avy report which I thought was good but this is a great idea.
We should get together and form a plan to approach REI and see if they would do that if we provided the tags. We could raise some money via donations to print the tags and then donate them to REI and other stores such as Pro-Skiing and Marmot Mountian works and EVO and Sturdevants and Alpine Hut. As we have proved in the last few days, we can make a difference.

Everyone, thanks for participating in the survey, and more importantly for your interest in improving avalanche awareness. I should let you know that FOAC has in the past pursed placing awareness tags on gear at REI. It ran into some obstacles, none of which were insurmountable, and is something we would like to do. This is where you the members of TAY can help.

Charles has been very generous in allowing FOAC/NWAC to tap into the collective experience, knowledge, and interest of the TAY community. For those of you that are interested in helping out with the getting avalanche awareness tags on to gear please contact me with a personal message and we can discuss this further.

In the meantime, please keep the ideas coming on ways we can improve the NWAC website, and if you haven't already, take the survey.

If you have any further questions about the survey, NWAC, or anything avalanche awareness related, feel free to contact me through a personal message or post you question on this topic. I'm more than happy to answer any questions, and would like to keep this discussion open so that as many as possible can contribute.

Patagonia (possibly a long shot) could be a good company to not only promote but to include and would carry some weight as far as their say goes. Also, a good grassroots org.
