McLoughlin (S OR) beta for Memorial Day was created by danopdx
Haven't skied it before, and hoping to hit it this Mem Day. Anyone know how things look in terms of road access, melt-out and coverage on the lower mountain, etc? Suggestions for other places to ask? Not finding any recent trip reports... Thanks!

You can go here:
www.tripcheck.com/Pages/CamerasEntry.asp
to check road conditions- Hwy 140 is fine, very little snow at 5000 ft. Sorry, don't know how to post the pic from the Road Cam.
Anyway, see discussion re: this warming/hot weather. Was going to ski McLoughlin on Sunday but not going to. Not sure if we'll have significant cooling next week to allow for a relatively safe Mem Day ski.
Had to bushwack/no snow probably last 500-1000 ft, last year in late april. But the snowpack is better this year...
Anyone with recent beta/pictures?

Thanks AT. That's a nice site to have with all the cams at one spot.

Thanks y'all. Just spoke with someone at the Fremont Winema NF Klamath office, who indicated the FS roads are still buried (no surprise), and I should start from the Summit sno-park off Hwy 140. Anyone know the rough distance from there to the base of McLaughlin?

I would think that a start on hwy 140 would be fine for a day trip. If you are planning on skiing the south face, this actually may be easier to navigate back to, because the fall line proceeds almost directly south from the summit and an open slope entices you to ski pretty far down in that direction, but this then leaves a significant traverse if heading back east to the summer (se ridge) trailhead.
I'm not sure on the distance but I'd guess it would add maybe a mile or two and maybe a 1,000 ft elevation gain to begin from hwy 140 instead of the summer trailhead. There is some good info on this peak on the skimountaineer.com website including an image of the topographic map.

Dan the (man!) skied into it from Lake of the Woods rd. this winter and had all sorts of cool runs done in one day, all from the summit/ round trip. He posted a tr sometime this winter...he could probably give you good ideas, but you might want to keep in mind this guy is probably lungs on skis so you might want to 'figure' this in for estimates. I did it a couple of seasons ago but from the trail-head and skied the s.e. slope which is at a nice angle for 1800' (2000'?) verticle. Archetectually, that peak is a beauty!!!!!!!!! Sort of pyramid looking...........
