Insulated bladders that don't leak? was created by Jeff Huber
Hey guys - For the past 3 or 4 years I've put a Camelback Stoway bladder in my pack but each year it seems to leak more and more despite how tight I close the lid.
Does anyone have recommendations for a better bladder system? I want one that doesn't leak when stuffed in a pack, is insulated, has wide opening, two litters, and can put hot water in it w/o letting it cool.
Thanks

Hi Jeff-
I do not have any experience with insulated bladders but as for a stop loss measure until you replace yours I have a simple suggestion. I put my bladder into two of the plastic bags that my newspaper comes in. Super lite, effective and sometimes the bags come in handy for other uses.
Good luck.

I have one that's from BCA, that came with my pack; I'm not sure if you can buy it separately, but the cool thing is that when it developed a small hole in the seam after much use, they sent me a new one free. Great company!

Nalgene has a system, which BCA markets, which I have used with great success for the last couple of year. It screws onto the top of a regular Nalgene bottle.
Gives the option of not using the suck tube, putting the bottle in an OR insulated holder, being able to ration water by having multiple bottles, etc. Also allows the use of regular lids until you hit the trailhead, and even after.
I try to keep the bottle upright anyway and capped when in the car.

Stewie bought their bladder system and it's da bomb. So much so I have stolen it from him as is my parental right. Closure system is especially good and tube is removable from bladder via a clever one way valve system that makes putiing it in your pack ar refilling real easy.

Too funny. I do exactly the same thing in the summer. In the winter I use the foam cover that came with my Camelback Unbottle. Bomber so far as long as you close the top real tight.Hi Jeff-
