Avalanche Safety Gear circa 1962

One of my downhill skiing buddies forwarded this link to a 1962 ski movie  by Warren Miller.  The safety gear for skiing in avalanche terrain was rather unique.  The good old days. 

My dad recently sent me this vid link. Not quite as good as backcountry with helium balloons, but enjoyable none-the-less. Seemed an appropriate thread to share.
