The Wanaka area is really cool, and the TC locals were very friendly to us itinerant telemarkers.
Good open-gate access, short shots and big-time stuff.

Jill and I have downhill and backcountry skied in Argentina and Chile in 2005 and 2007. We rented a car during both trips which varied from 1 to 2 months. We have climbed numerous volanoes in the Andes and skied most of the ski areas from Esquel, Argentina in the south to Portillo, Chile in the north. See our TR posted on TAY in 2005 and 2007. We travelled the low cost route and never stayed at the resort hotels.
