It's that time of the year when spring corn is developing and roadtrips are starting to materialize. Here's what I observed on some of the main roads during a brief trip March 27-29. Starting from Conway Summit and heading south.
Virginia Lakes Road - bare for the first mile then snow covered at the usual snowcat parking area.
Lundy Lake Road - bare for about a mile until the last house on the left and the sign that states "Snow not removed beyond this point".
June Lake Road - the north access portion is gated at the usual spot.
Mammoth Lakes - the Sherwins have great coverage
Convict Lake Road - clear to the lake.
McGee Creek Road - snow covered
Rock Creek Road - clear to the sno park then snow covered
Hwy 168 out of Bishop - South Lake Road - clear to Bishop Creek Lodge then snow covered
North to Lake Sabrina - clear to Aspendell then closed and partially plowed beyond closure
Glacier Lodge Road - clear to road end at Glacier Lodge
Onion Valley Road - clear to Seven Pines then closed due to boulders on road for an unknown distance
Besides the road report, I did get in 2 days of touring: Kid Mountain and in the Aspendell area. The corn is ripe !
