Canadian Hut Trip or Eurovacation? was created by silaswild
Hmm, will this start a flame war?   Different strokes for different folks, no need to argue.   Tele or Rando?  Snowshoes in skin tracks?   Anyway, here´s a few shots from the last couple days that tell why I´d rather be a Eurotourist checking out the local scene on bad weather days than cooped up in a hut with 12 of my best (or not so best) friends in a storm.

The chopping wood photo is an absolute classic Silas. Like a photo from National Geographic. Good eye.

I vote Eurovacation!! 8) I agree with Chris that your first photo is a classic! Your daughter is blessed to have such a cool dad. Thanks for sharing your trip!

But think of all the Canadian hut experiences you're missing:

Mountains socked in...can't fly in or out
Overflowing outhouse barrels (OK, so this only happened once...)
Fart machine humor
Sharing meals with someone who cooks as well as I do (Ramen again?)
More??

Many North Americans would say a euro-vacation for the culture. Many Europeans would say hut trip for the uncrowded wilderness. I would say both, spaced a couple months apart!! Nice first photo.

I'm with TobyT, I can't choose, but I'll add another trip type into the mix - ski touring and staying in a tent. Euro vs NA hut adventures are great, but these don't demand the ever-wonderful digging-out-the-tent-every-hour fun that can be the highlight of tenting trips. There is also that great moment where you wake up face to face with your tent partner and WAY too close - Yikes! I've done that with Silas and what an experience it is.
