Alta Peak Avalanche was created by dave_perkins
Went for a tour today and came across the Alta Peak slide path from last month. It was very impressive.

Awesome! There's a new ski route for next year, when it fills in with snow.

Great photos, Dave. Impressive how the slide ran up the opposite slope of the valley. I'm not so sure about the new ski run, though. That's a pretty cliffy track.
On an aside, counting the Alta Mountain slide, I've counted about 16 or 17 major avalanches/big crowns from the early February cycle. There are about a half a dozen on Windy Ridge near Stevens Pass (old train accident slope). One of those took out a lot of timber and was apparently moving so fast it failed to follow the dogleg track, running into the timber at mid-path instead. One near Morny Glory track below Scenic is impressive for the timber it knocked down in creating a new path and there are four in the Nason Ridge area of Stevens Pass. A major slide ran down Schilling Creek off Rock Mountain, and, of course, there is the Tunnel Creek slide. Two large crowns are also visible on on the east side of Pyramid Peak near Mt. Rainier.

Is this one on Alta entirely new? What was there before? If it's new, are we just seeing the top of a very deep pile of wrecked trees? It looks awfully clean for an entirely new path.
