McGyvering a Snow Saw/pole Interface? was created by Randy Beaver
Odelay all-
I'm looking to incorporate a snow saw into my snow pack eval kit, and am finding that while there are a plethora of snow saws available, there are none that will clip onto my Mountainsmith poles. The only option for clipping on to trekking poles seems to be Black Diamond, or the G3 strap option, which looks like it would be a questionable one.
I'd rather not buy new poles as well as a snow saw, so anyone have ideas/photos of how they've jury rigged a interface?
Thanks in advance....

I don't know if this saw would work on your poles, but it fits into my Lekis nicely:

Beyond that, you could use a pair of short rubber ski straps to attach the saw to your poles, the same way the Bonesaw is meant to attach. From my limited experience with it, the attachment is pretty solid when you reef down on the straps. I rarely attach my saw to the pole, since I do a lot more column tests than Rutschblocs, but the Voile option is pretty slick if it fits your poles.

this bad boy works with my Lekis. The basket end of the pole screws into the tube on the saw. The saw folds away and packs nicely, and cuts like crazy.

Howdy,
I have the G3 Bone Saw...
Though the strap-on set up looks questionable, I can say that it has worked on both my ski poles and in one case where we needed more reach, a probe. As the name implies, it'll pretty much cut anything so some care needs to be taken while handling...

Thanks all, I'm going to go with the Voile (with fingers crossed). That Wasatch folding model is sweet, though!
BTW, this forum is totally useless without pics!

I completely agree:
If you're anywhere near North Seattle (near the Community College), feel free to PM me and we can hook up real quick to test out the fit of the Voile.
