Avy's in Afghanistan

I came across this article this morning, more avy's.

This time in Afghanistan. (pretty sure it missed binladen, what a shame). There was also a video from the AP. 2 more caught, 2 possibly missing in Montana, and 3 snowmobilers caught in Wyoming. What a year, seems like every week its somewhere new.

I have to wonder what the risk profile is for skiing in Afghanistan. Avalanches are certainly 1 factor, but among equally outrageous alternatives (getting shot by the Taliban or bandits, tripping a landmine under shallow snowpack), I'm not sure how to even assess the risk and come up with a plan for skiing there....

I think I'd rather take my chances in Iran.
