A couple years back I was riding a lift with two guys. Somehow the conversation worked it's way around to whether one should wear a helmet, which both of these gentlemen had on. The reason they explained was a result of an accident a few years back. Apparently they were skiing one day when one of them hit a patch of ice and down he went. The other being close behind didn't have time to avoid his friend and ran over his head with predictable results. He removed his helmet to show me a large scar that ran from his jaw to the top of his head. Freak accident? Sure, but no one plans on a head injury.
