So, what would he do, faced with dismal snow-pack and a quiver full of new skis? I look to ancient poetry for my answers, from the poem Grímnismál:
Ullar hylli
hefr ok allra goða
hverr er tekr fyrstr á funa,

þá er hefja af hvera.
Ullr's and all the gods'
favour shall have,
whoever first shall look to the fire;

My interpretation of this passage is: Ullr would like us to have a big-ass tailgate party in the parking lot at White Pass.
"Whoever first shall look to the fire" -- we need to have a campfire.
"for open will the dwelling be, " -- that refers (obviously) to the tailgate of my truck, where I dwell on weekends.
"to the Æsir's sons," -- i think that means you
"when the kettles are lifted off. " -- and that means food, clearly
"Ullr's and all the gods' favor shall have" -- he'll be stoked and it'll snow if we party!

When: Saturday, December 22. The fire will be cracklin' around 5:30 pm.
Who: You, friends!
What: a tailgate/potluck -- byob and byoc (chair). bring a dish -- chips, buffalo wings, ???. I'll have a propane tank and blaster (big burner), a small grill, and some briquettes. I plan to fix a roast or ham or something, some bread, and a dessert all in dutch ovens. The "kettles will be lifted off" around 6, "or so". Side dishes, salads, soups, whatever would all be great. spare utensils, paper plates, napkins, etc would be great too. Think about bringing a sacrifice for Ullr. The poem doesn't specify it, but the dude skis like a mutant and is a bad-ass archer -- you KNOW he'd love burning stuff!
