Best Avi course in WA? was created by drucipher
I'm new to WA and interested in signing up for an Avi 1 course. Who offers the best course around here?

Mountain Madness, Pro Guiding and Gary Brill all offer great classes

It depends on your needs and schedule.
I took Gary Brill's class 8-9 years ago, and it was good. A lot of focus on terrain selection. He's a good teacher.
I've taken classes from Pro Guiding, and they were really good. Very intimate with only a few students to an instructor. A lot of discussion and hands on learning. However, mostly weekday classes--doesn't fit well if you work regular hours. Usually very skier focused.
I just started the Mountaineers avy class. My initial reaction is that it is crowded and tries to cater a lot of different audiences--skiers, climbers, snowshoers. It should work for me because I want it as a refresher.
I learn best in a hands on/discussion environment, so I liked Pro Guiding the best. Of course, I think it is also the most expensive.
