A TAY CD-ROM purchase question.

Can a Canadian purchase the CD using his credit card and then have it sent to a Washington address? Would I have to include Washington State taxes? I would like to buy this CD for a friend who lives in the state for Christmas. I will not be in Seattle soon. Thanks,

My answers will be semi-educated guesses.

I think the answer is yes. There could be questions/problems with PayPal and/or your credit card company due to the mismatch between your billing address and the ship to address. PayPal would probably list the ship to address as "unconfirmed", but you could add a note letting me know that it is you doing the purchasing. If there's a hangup with your CC company, you'd have to call them to work that out.

Would I have to include Washington State taxes?

The answer is yes, because the collection of state sales tax is completely dependent on the ship to address. This may not be as bad as it sounds, though, compared to shipping to Canada (which I still haven't quite gotten worked out), where you would have several extra charges to be paid (some combination of GST, HST, provincial ST, duties, and the $5 (I think) that Canada Post applies to collect all of those charges at time of delivery). WA sales tax is $2.04 on one CD-ROM (that's USD, which would be pocket change to you Canadians at this point!).
