Trans-Cascade Ski Tour Options was created by Mjölnir
Since I'll probably be doing more of the touring variety of skiing this year and less of the climbing for turns...I was wondering what the feasibility of skiing from one side of WA pass to the other - following Hwy 20 along the way was. Assuming I can get the shuttle logistics sorted out...will I find a lot of snowmobiles up there? I'm thinking it would take about 2 days on fast touring skis.
Anyone have advice on this trip?
Maybe there are better trans-cascade ski trips I should consider instead. Maybe Cascade River Road to Lake Chelan...
EDITED: Title to reflect the right thread...

Thanks Lowell - I should have figured you Skoog brothers would have done it. Looks like a lot of machine traffic up there..
Any other recommendations for trans-cascade ski tours that might provide a bit more quiet?

I haven't scoped out trans-cascade trips very much, but I've done a number of trips along the crest. The routes between Snoqualmie Pass and Crystal Mountain on this map are suitable for a lighter touring style. Of these, the route between Crystal Mountain and Naches Pass is particularly nice because of its easy car shuttle and relative lack of snowmobiles.
A trip that I haven't done, but would like to, is the crest from Crystal Mountain to White Pass. I'm interested in doing that this winter. February-March would probably be ideal.

Two I have done:
Cascade Pass to Stehekin. Straighforward -- check the Ferry Schedule on Lake Chelan. The main problem will be the length of snow-covered road you will need to travel before the CP trailhead.
Suiattle to Holden, via Image Lake and Lyman Lake. This is a bit more work, but a spectacular classic. The problem, again, is the length of the approach up the Suiattle River road, plus some pretty steep terrain to negotiate You might consider contacting the folks at Holden to arrange a ride to the Ferry, but we just showed up and it worked out. You probably won't want to do this one alone, or in "iffy" weather or avi conditions.

Those both look like good tours. How long did you take for each of those tours?
It looks like there is a bus service to Chelan so figuring out the shuttle is a lot easier if it is to be done before HWY 20 is open.
