I'm a proud new daddy of a little one (8 months old now) and while we live in Stockholm currently, we are probably headed home to Seattle in the near future (this season or next). I was wondering what systems you guys and gals have though up to bring the little ones out in the snow before they can ski on their own.
Of course you want to pick your routes and weather selectively and probably focus more on signed and designated cross country routes for the first few years.
Here in Sweden they bundle up the kids and strap them into these "Ski Pulkas", or rather, sleds the parents pull behind as they ski along. Apparently it works pretty well. I attached a pic of one..
What have you guys used / Seen out there in the winter to bring the litte ones around in? How do baby backpacks work - they seem a bit scary to me due to the potential for a serious fall...

I toted my son on a number of overnights with a wilderness.......? sled much like yours in the picture, has a skeg/rudder for a brake, and to keep from side slipping on hills and very minor tracks for the same, metal pole and a hip belt, pretty nice set up. I think I have a picture of it somewhere at home I can psot when I can drag it up. My friends have great stories of skinning behind him being pulled as he is hunkered down singing to himself while I worked like a pack mule. He would always get a big smile while he was three or four and he would walk into a hut out of the blowing snow...... goodtimes He is 14 now and is now very much kicking dads butt on elevation and is now the one up ahead waiting for me!!!!
The sled is hanging in my garage with a couple years of dust and in great shape, I would part with it for a good price if the kids were going to use it!!!
