I may try a pair for the Trabs I hope to treat myself to for my next birthday.

One of the [many] nice things about Trabs is that they supply a set of their proprietary skin attachments with the skis, so you can use any skin model you want, plus you can save a few $$ but just getting plain skins with no attachments.

I've been using GlideLites and have been quite happy with them. They will however 'bald' to some extent (I gather that's the term) when used much in icy conditions. The very fine fibers also will fuzz up a little after extensive use. But they do work well.

Are you talking about the old white & blue GlideLites? The current versions (with the kind of tire tread pattern) have the same plush as Ascensions.

climbingskinsdirect.com offers fairly inexpensive skins.  They have a money back warranty if bit satisfied with the product (I emailed them for the story...); they make them right there in Jackson; they apparently were the origninal brains or close to it at Acension.  They have the tip/ tail set up in the "Euro Fix"  mannner...which has  worked really well for me.  Also, if you have twin tip skis, they have a good stout looking ring to fit on the tail (apparently if it is a round tail these would be the ticket).  They are out of Jackson Hole and appreciate any feed-back if you buy them.

Sounds like they are climbing skin/engineering nerds and that they have really checked out a lot of "angles".   Anybody used these skins thus far?

I just got a pair and am happy with what was sent. The skins are sort of a combination between the BCA skin and an Acension. They have the attachment like the BCA but better and are a little lighter than the Acension. They are definitely not the very light "flimsy" material like the BCA. I'm Jonesing to try them this week I'll give a report after I use them on the snow.

I used my new skins from Climbing Skins Direct on Saturday and am very pleased. They climbed well, steeper than I like to set a track. and glide as well as any others I've used. All in all a good deal. Just a note they don't come with a bag or skin savers thus some of the "savings" not a big deal for me as I have many bags and don't use the savers any way. Hope this helps.
