I've added a new chart to the daily snowpack graphs generated by my snowpack model that some of you may find useful. I hope.  :)

Based on computer predictions from the NOAA Earth System Research Lab, the graph shows a forecast for temp vs. elevation out for 12 hours. It's good for a 40 km square grid centered near Stampede Pass.

The link to the snowpack site is:  www.larryscascaderesource.com/SasseWinter/current.html

And the link to the charts only is: www.larryscascaderesource.com/SasseWinter/current.html

See Chart 6 at the bottom of the page.

The data for this chart is the same used by the snowpack model to estimate the lapse rate when the snow fell, it just looks forward in time rather than retrospectively.

I've been roughly noting the predictions made by the new chart for my trips the last few weeks, and even though they have seemed unlikely at first glance, the forecasts have been quite good.

If  further  tweaks to this chart would be helpful, let me know.

I forgot to mention that the automatically generated html page that displays the graphs does not work on a Mac. It may not work on PCs running older versions of IE either. If you are particularly interested in the output of the snowpack model but can't access the daily graphs, please let me know and I'll figure out a workaround.
