If you are looking fo rself guided experiences we have had wonderful luck at the Asulkan hut in Roger's Pass and at the Stanley Mitchell hut in the little Yoho Valley. Both are ACC huts and information is readily available. You may want to start checking into availability ASAP. So many of these prime locations fill up quickly. Good luck, a hut trip is a wonderful experience!

You might be better off with a guided, catered trip given that it sounds like you haven't done many of these trips. I've been to many huts almost always self-guided ... others have already spoken to those.

I went to white cap alpine - www.whitecapalpine.ca - selfguided and catered but they also have slots open for individuals to hop on trips so call them or email them for their schedules.

Since you said your skill level is intermediate, I'd recommend contacting Ptarmigen Tours . In ~ 1996/7 when we there, they catered to a more intermediate clientele. May have changed... have fun. - Russ

THANKS to all who have provided excellent suggestions.  Now I just have to get my friend to commit to a week to do this! We'll get this sorted out though and I see some excellent snow in store for me this winter.
