Most of the transceiver manufacturers including BCA have very good videos in the form of CD's that are available. They are very useful for going over all of the steps in basic companion rescue and in more complex multiple rescue. Unless one practices a lot, reviewing these videos (the Pieps one has good shoveling info) can have a lot of the same benefits as, say, in taking a first aid class: that is unless one refreshes one's memory and practices, if the time ever comes, you won't be ready.
In that regard, I was faced with a serious triage-type first aid skills demanding motorcycle accident while stopped at a convenience store/gas station in Kamloops. That was the first time I had to be first on the scene.
