New to board- Greetings... was created by Fletch
Hello all.
I've been backcountry snowboarding for a couple years now and lovin it! How ever, I decided this year to go to skis for various reasons (Which I'm sure are obvious) but am at a loss. I've decided to go with G3's but I'm not sure of the model. I'll be skiing in to Diamond Peak a lot (aprox. 8 mile in one way) and doing mostly over night trips on weekends. I weigh about 170 lbs and my overnight pack is about 40lbs. I'm a strong snowboarder but no so familier on skis.
Any help would be GREATLY apriciated!!!
By the way. I'm new to this website/forum but am loving it!!

Hey Tophervw. I've considered a split board but I've heard they aren't good for the flat stuff on the way to the steep stuff and they seem to be almost as much as a set up of skiis. Have I heard wrong?

pros and cons to anything I suppose. I have cursed the flats many many times, but mostly that is on the way out at the end of the day. I really hunt for tours where I can ride right to the car however. I would suggest renting one from second ascent and giving it a shot. Many skier buddies like the blvd of a skin track the split lays down. I have been really happy in my splitting exp. Skis are faster, that might just be me though too....
