Baker Area Sept Turn Ideas? was created by korup
Any suggestions on Baker area turns this weekend, and/or any info about snow line? I've checked all the recent TRs, but wonder what else is an option for decent snow. Thanks!

I went hiking up to Winchester Mountain on Monday (the 3rd). The saddle (elev. ~6220') to the west of the lookout had a pretty good sized (maybe 300' long?) patch on the north side. It had moderate sun cups (1-2" tall), but on a warm day it would be fine. I've definitely seen and skied much worse. It seems like it would be worth it. There were also a few smaller patches as well.
The north side of Goat Mountain had quite a bit of snow but it appeared to be heavily sun cupped and runneled
We also walked to the top of Table Mountain and there were several large patches on the top and a good sized snow field on the north side. I didn't get a chance to take a look up close on the snow field, but I did notice some runneling \ dirt.
There is still a lot of snow out on Ptarmigan Ridge and the Sholes Glacier. Some ice poking through in places, but not bad.
From a distance Chowder ridge seems to have quite a bit of snow as well. Not sure how much of this was glacial ice and if there were any crevasses open.
Mt. Ruth had a lot of ice visible. Baker and Shuksan were pretty broken up.
Hope this helps.

I am heading out to Camp Kiser tomorrow to camp and ski around the Coleman Pinnacle. I'll report on the conditions Sunday.
