.... That being the case, the logical extension of the technique would be to drag around a big ship's anchor.   ;)  Yeah, that oughta do it.

;D

Right! I wouldn't try this... or even begin to encourage solo travel over cravasses.  However, there may be some place for it in an emergency.

I wanted to pass this by y'all because he mentions that "... mountain guides in Europe have been using the technique recently..."   So, my curiosity was aroused.

At first I was enthused about the two survival programs, Man vs Wild and Surviver Man.  However, they are not really substantial.  I can get a lot more from the Air Force Survival Manuel.   But I still watch the programs...

Ok guys don't you dare try this on your own!

Yeah Right.  These silly TV shows make it seem so simple and give people wild ideas that should just not be tried at home.  How many people saw this, couldn't find a partner for their last trip, so gave it a try?

I must say, however, carrying at least a few feet of parachute cord is a habit I developed as a young wildland firefighter.  It has proved useful almost everytime I carry it, but it has been mostly for things like lashing boots to my pack  8)
