I have always been impressed with this program, Oregon Field Guide.  It is high quality and highlights what a special area we live in.

Here is a video segment (about 14 minutes) I borrowed off the tv from The Oregon Field Guide on KCTS.

Mt. St Helens Glacier/Caves - We take you on what has to be one of the most dangerous trips ever, deep into the crater of Mount St. Helens following researchers braving life-threatening rockslides and frequent earthquakes. They are studying the fastest growing glacier in the continental United States and the ice caves that lie hidden beneath it.

After watching the video a few times... I figured out that it must have been produced around the Summer of 2004, before the last eruption.  So there is obviously quite a bit of change to the scenery by now.  Still, I find the combination of fire and ice to be fascinating.  I take a lesson here.... that glaciers can not only recede, but also grow pretty fast.

... a nice little photo layout of a St. Helens climbe from the Seattle P.I.  seattlepi.nwsource.com/photos/popup.asp?...ss&pubdate=5/27/2007
