Spearhead conditions?

Anyone been up recently? How are the glaciers looking, are people roping up yet or is everything still pretty filled in?

Was just there last week. Everything is still filled in and looking good. Rope up at you own discretion. I saw a few developing cracks, especially back around Benvolio and Overlord. Blackcomb is not running Showcase, so ride up 7th and traverse to the top of Showcase. We stayed out one night and got some skiing in. Mostly great corn and not so great hardpack, depending on the time of day. We had some pseudo-pow on the Ripsaw and Mt. Iago. Most people were not looking for turns, so fresh tracks can be had with minimal variation to the main route. It looks like some nice conditions may develop this weekend with the new snow. We exited over Oboe and Flute. We skied the groomers on Whistler down to "mid-station" (lower than mid-mtn.), which is 2.5km of road walking to the village and beer and burgers at GLC. Actually, we hitch-hiked down and caught a ride after walking 1km. Hope this helps. Get it soon or you'll be walking farther and farther...

Starting Tuesday, May 22, Blackcomb changes their hours, lifts operating and prices.

May 22-June 3:

Lift ticket - $40c (use a Shell 2 for 1)

Hours: 10am - 4pm

Lifts: Excalibur gondola, Excelerator quad, Jersey Cream quad, Crystal triple

The top of the Crystal chair is about 6100' and the top of Jersey Cream is about 6300'.
