Climb and Ski to Fight Cancer: 3 Mountains. 3 Days was created by weah742
During the week of May 7th, we will be climbing and skiing Mt. Baker, Mt. Glacier, and Mt. Adams in 72 consecutive hours to raise awareness about the importance of healthier lifestyles and the early detection of cancer. Along the way we hope to raise fund for cancer research and cancer care programs.
The event, 3 Mountains. 3 Days. 1 Cure. Is being put on by 1in2 non profit - www.1in2.org
The non profit is named after the scary statistic that 1 in 2 males will be diagnosed with cancer. Nationally, over 1500 pass away from cancer - PER DAY.
- Make sure to wear sunscreen everytime you step onto the hill - RAIN or SHINE
- Conduct self exams monthly (guys and girls)
- Over 50? Get a colonoscopy (guys and girls)
- Learn more and how to live healthier at: www.1in2.org/Live%20Healthy.html
To support the cause, get involved, or learn more, please visit www.1in2.org
Interest facts:
- Of the 1.4 million new cancer cases expected in 2007 - 1/3 will be attributed to lifestyle choices such as smoking, drinking, obesity, poor diets, and inactivity
- The 5 year survival rate as an average for all cancers is 66% - Early detection can increase that percent by more than 20% and as high as 99% for certain cancers.
So live healthy and make sure to exam yourself and get annual checkups!
The fight against cancer... let's take it outside!

Very cool & good luck! Does this mean that there is access to Glacier Peak again and I missed it? I thought the main access was washed out and that it would be an extra 10+ mile approach (onto a trip that was already the longest among volcanos). Not that motivated individuals couldn't pull it off of course, just curious.
