I want to believe that the extra measures that Alpental goes through to cover its ass make it less vulnerable to litigation. Alpental seems to be very aware and very sensitive to the risk level in its frontcountry, while on the other hand what looks to have been the nail in the coffin in the terrain park incident was that the ski area didn't seem to care: negligence, or so the legal argument went.

I don't think a monitary settelment is going to change to much about how  ski areas are currently run.
I'm sure the way court cases are handeled will change.
Last weekend  up at the PASS I saw some of the biggest jumps and table tops I've ever seen at snoqualamie. Here's why  www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/info/calendar...enade_games.item.asp ?
