This class is a great opportunity for anyone interested in putting more "Alpinism" into their skiing! Not only do you get to meet some wonderful people within our local backcountry skiing community, but the hands-on experience with various pulley and anchor systems under real world conditions is invaluable. I had worked rescue scenarios before and it wasn't until this class that I had a real appreciation for the forces involved...
Don't miss out, its a great class!

I can't say enough good things about this class, the skills learned or the people involved. Not to mention the vast terrain it opens for skiers /boarders.

Is the course just offered once a year?

Yes, fortunately for Darryl Olson (who now organizes the course) it is a one time per year course, timed (hopefully) to be completed at the beginning of the summer glacier skiing season. :
The course is a huge undertaking requiring a massive time and resources commitment on the part of Darryl and all the other volunteer instructors (most of whom have already attended 3 instructor workshops and will attend two more before the class begins for the new students). My guess is Darryl would quit if we did more that one a year
The good news is a student has two years to complete the course so if something unexpected comes up to cause a workshop or field trip to be missed one can go through the class a second time the next year to pick up the skills missed to graduate from the course.

I can vouch for the character(s) of the group. Good course, good people, and most importantly good fun. They also know how to have a great bbq. Be sure to bring your habachi, I think it's now a course requirement
Kam and I will demonstrate proper use.
