dynafit tlt heel pins loose, help!

Well, i was jiggling my boot around a bit the other day, and noticed that my heel pins are a bit loose - they move up and down - imperceptibly to the eye, but I can feel it both by hand & boot. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there something I can tighten down to clamp it?

Thanks!
-Eli

The only thing that holds the TLT heel pins in place is the binding top plate, which is held in place by four # 10 Torx screws. You probably just need to tighten the front screws up a bit.

You need to figure out what is really lose- I haven't seen any bindings worn enough to have the heal pins lose. I have a pair of bindings that there is some movement in the heal- the metal post that it rotates on has some movement- they are a hybrid of the Ti binding and the TLT base. The TLT base is worn and maybe a slightly different size- once I figured out what it was it stopped bothering me.

Depending on how old the binding is and how much maintenance you have done. The Dynafit bindings I've taken apart have very little grease in them- so I have cleaned them up and used a synthetic bicycle grease- Bull Shot(?), cheap and easy to clean up. You can use what ever- I like synthetic- easier clean up. The grease also helps with the plastic plunger- they seem to last longer- at least it doesn't have as much plastic bits in there anymore.

Another thought is how high is you retention setting- too lose and it feels lose. I have my wife's bindings about as lose as they get- she falls and they come off. I haven't seen her blow out of them so it must be good. Most people adjust to these parameters- use the guide for a rough setting and go up or down depending on how hard you ski. Some times you may want to use the toe in Walk mode for more retention.
