Definitely grab hold of "Allen and Mike's Really Cool Telemark Tips".

Also, start reading the NWAC forecasts and telemetry, to get familiar with the weather, conditions and profiles.

You might want to come out west sometime to meet the gang at something like the Crystal Ski Fest.  Last year it was April 30...  a perfect day.

Welcome volcanogrrl. Since you mentioned you are not an experienced telemarker, my first recommendation is to get an AT setup. Since you do not have a telemark background, telemarking in the backcountry will be very frustrating (it is a lot more difficult then telemarking at a resort on groomed snow).
