Ingalls Creek route info? was created by PeterC
I have an ancient copy of the Burgdorfer guide which describes a tour from Hwy 97 (Blewitt Pass) up Ingalls Creek to Colchuck Col. Called the Porcupine Creek tour, it involves 10+mi of flattish touring to get into the Stuart region. Has anyone done this tour? Is there a place to park near the trailhead in winter? Are any drainages closer to the car worth skiing?

If we don't get significant new snow I might go "ski-hiking" out there this weekend to check it out. Thanks for any info.

If I remember right there is a plowed pullout in that area. I always thought the drainages to the south of ingalls would be fun. Other people on this site tour in that area, but it seems like they keep their stashes well protected.

Years ago I did a tour from the Ingalls creek trailhead. I recall the paved county road being plowed, but not parking lot itself. With the TH elevation being at only 1900ft, I don't think you'll have too much trouble parking -- even if you have to dig your own "wide spot" at the end of the county plowed road. Skiing up the Ingalls creek trail is straight forward and under current conditions shouldn't be too time consuming.

I've done this (way back in '74; there was a fight over gasoline on the way back to Seatle). It's a long way. I think it's easier to cross over from the Teanaway (Bean or Beverly Cr?).

Last summer I went up that way to do some climbing up in Crystal creek, the trail is definitly easy going for 7 mi then up the drainage, staight forward but steep. I would have enjoyed skiing it this year, there are some rad secret sleeping caves too that would be sweet in the winter.
Last year Jan or Feb. we went in Mtnrs. TH and stayed on the platuea for a couple nights. The best skiing we encountered was on the South side of Little Annapurna Creek. The spires on the south side of the enchantment cirque are amazing! Enjoy, take lotsa pictures.
