Voile Adapter Plate: Another Gear Failure

Okay, so despite my efforts to switch from tele to AT, my gear keeps trying to have the final say. A couple weeks ago it was the Dynafit heelpiece on my AT boots. This week it was the Voile adapter plate I used to mount my Dynafit bindings to my pre-drilled K2's. At some point on the way out from Alaska Mtn the screws mounting the plate to the ski sheered off. This makes me think that these plates have a flaw in that they only take advantage of two of the pre-drilled screw-holes on heel part of the ski. Seems that perhaps two screws aren't enough.

heel of binding & adapter plate

lifting the adapter plate before removing any remaining screws to reveal underside and what's left of screws

the 2 sheered screws (with 1 normal screw) and 1 hole with screw remnant

Try hard as I might, my heel keeps coming free!

well, your Work Stinx are telemark skis...perhaps they're just rejecting having a dynafit heel attached.

at least all the bugs of your new rig are getting worked out before the Sorcerer Hut trip!

Those guys look over torqued.  A quarter inch bolt should go in at about 14 foot pounds.  But that can depend a lot on the quality of bolt.  I believe that most binding materials come with torque specs.

Here is a torque chart that may help: raskcycle.com/techtip/webdoc14.html
